October 27, 2014

This week has been pretty successful for Elder Stone and me. We taught well above the average amount of lessons. Elder Stone told me that he hasn't seen the amount of lessons that we are teaching in a year, so I'm pretty happy about that. We have cuatro fetcha bautizmals (baptismal dates). Hopefully they will come through. One of them is Camilo Espinoza. He is 19 and is one of the coolest guys ever. He is a famous Zumba instructor and travels around the world now and he has red hair like me! The first time I met him he says, "Wow! Somos gemelos!" Which basically means we are twins. He is so receptive and just a totally awesome investigator. Once he decided on a fetcha, his family tried to convince him that it was way too early and that he should push it back. He told them it is what he wants and that he can make the date. I really REALLY hope it works out. I haven't received any packages but tomorrow is mail day so that's probably why! Love you guys bunches!!!

Saludos de donde el diablo perdio el poncho
How are you guys? It's been a long time since I've heard your voices. I do have a request though, can  you send me a picture of our family?  I want a size to fit in my BoM and the other the size of printer paper, to hang up in the study room. That would be awesome! I'm sorry I haven't told you all that you want to know about my life in the field, but that will all change right now! I'll start out by telling you about my awesome companion, Elder Stone. He's a rock solid guy. He's from Salem, Utah (wherever that is) and comes from a family of 12... seriously, the stereotypical Mormon family. He's number 5 in the pack and his sister just got back from her mission a month ago from Argentina. He's been out 15 and a half months. I'm his 3rd son, so he's pretty experienced in the training business. Student Council, cross country, and choir is his life back home. Elder Stone is one of the coolest guys I have ever met. He's funny, easy going, hard working, and super happy all of the time. I really don't think I could have a better companion.

So now that you know a little bit about my companion, I'll tell you about our sector. I seriously feel like I'm in the Bronx of New York. I absolutely love it!  There are dogs literally everywhere. I can't go 5 seconds and not have a dog in my peripheral vision. One of the favorite parts of my sector though is home to some of the meanest dogs. I like it because the dogs actually chase us. Haha, it's so scary but so fun at the same time.

I have already had an embarrassing moment. Well.. many, but I will share one with you that happened more recently. This was actually last week (Octubre 12) and we were at a menos activos house. We are about ready to leave this guy's house and he gets us these gargantuan glasses of Diet Pepsi pumped to the brim with carbonation. Keep in mind, we just got out of a huge almuerzo and I'm about to pass out I am so full. This guy sits on his couch staring at us waiting for us to down these glasses. Elder Stone takes it like a champ and chugs the whole thing, while it takes me like a minute to swallow every suffering mouthful. I finally get done and I am about to explode. Seriously, I felt so sick. As Elder Stone is chatting up with this guy about University, I hang around the front door thinking I'm going to have to book it while in the process of throwing up all over my suit. Seriously I felt so bad, I was sweating and swallowing saliva every 2 seconds. So as the urge comes I make a quick motion for the door but as I do this I make the most non-human burp I have ever created in my life. I turn around and everyone had stopped talking. It quickly started back up and I made my way nonchalantly back over to the group. The only thing I could muster from my embarrassed soul was a meek "lo siento." It was pretty awesome ha-ha.

That same day was my first Sunday. The only thing that I remember the most was when I sat down for the first time in the new congregation, I couldn't help but think to myself, "Dad would hate these chairs." It makes giggle to myself every time I sit down now ha-ha.
Love you guys! I will tell you more aweshum stories next week!

October 13, 2014

Well, here I am in the tiniest internet cafe imaginable. The mission is great. I love it so much. Stray dogs everywhere, that's the fun part though ha-ha. I don't have a lot of time but I´ll tell you what I can about my companion, Elder Stone. Greatest guy ever! I seriously doubt that I could have a better trainer than him. He´s from Salem, Utah and is from a family of 11 brothers and sisters and he is the 5th. Elder Stone has been out for 15 months. He is such a great guy and we act like brothers. I really wish I could have more time but the Chileans really want some Facebook time, ha-ha.  Love you, Elder Pile

Hey, I made it to my mission and absolutely love it! My trainer is super bomb.  This is a short little email to tell you I'm safe and ready to work.  I'll give you the details on P-day. Love you guys!

October 1, 2014

This week has flown, 6 more days until I'm out! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. Sunday is my favorite day now, well other than P-Day. The day is really relaxing and makes you think about your purpose here as a missionary. I view Sunday as a time to realign my spiritual self and prep for the whirlwinds of the upcoming week. I've been thinking about the gift of tongues lately and the fundamentals behind that blessing. We still need to do our best in studying the language and all, but you really need to ask in your prayers consistently. A scripture that I find perfect is D&C 4:7, "Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened up unto you." My companion's Dad has a good quote that goes along with this.
"If in your quest you do your best, the Lord is there to do the rest."
Oh, I met up with Elder White yesterday night! It really was a coincidence. He and his companion walk into our classroom looking for a specific teacher and then abruptly walk out again. If it wasn't for  Elder Collins saying, "Pile, weren't you saying something about an Elder White? That guy's name was Elder White dude." So I chase this guy down and we talk. What a small world and that he happened to pop into our classroom. Pretty sweet!
Love you guys!!!
